Fall Makeup Trends and Must Haves

I love fall time. This is a sentence I never thought I'd say back in my school days. I used to walk to school backwards and I cried on every single first day of school until my junior year of high school. I was such a well adjusted child.

As an adult, however, I find fall magical. Hocus Pocus, gingerbread lattes, cozy sweaters and boots. I mean it's still like 80 degrees in Los Angeles, but it's getting cooler. Gradually. Little by little.

I also really love fall makeup with those warm rich colors and dark vampy lips. So I'm going to break down some fall trends and some of my very favorite corresponding products. Let's start with eyeshadow palettes, since those are the most exciting if you ask me.

Jewel Tones

I am loving this jewel toned trend. There are a few options I've seen including the Kathleen Lights & Colourpop So Jaded Palette and The Persona Cosmetics Identity 2 Palette. While I don't have either of them, I don't think you can go wrong as both brands have a wonderful eyeshadow formula. I chose the Anastasia X Jackie Aina Palette and I am completely obsessed with it. The shades are really unique and beautiful and you can create so many looks. This one is limited edition so if you want it, you should grab it. Of course, I think you should definitely grab it. I'm also still so in love with my Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Palette.

Grungy Tones

Who doesn't love a good grungey look. It brings me back to the 90s, one of my very favorite decades filled with My So Called Life angst, flannel shirts and Nirvana. When I think of grunge and makeup, I immediately think of Melt Cosmetics. From their Dark Matter Stack to their Gemini Palette, you can easily create a grungey look that will have Jordan Catalano sending you notes to meet him in the boiler room.

Berry Tones

I am loving delicious Berry tones that make me think of Thanksgiving and cranberry sauce. Two palettes I love berry berry much (I couldn't help myself) are the Colourpop Whatever Palette and The Dominique Cosmetics Berries and Cream Palette. Colourpop is just killing it with their monochromatic palettes and Christen Dominique has killed it with her incredible formula. You can't go wrong with either. Or both.

Warm Tones

For a while, I feel like so many of us overdosed on warm toned palettes. To be honest, I still typically go for more neutral or cool toned looks. Except in the fall when I want to feel like autumn leaves falling from the trees. I'll be your girl for all seasons, all the years through. Your girl for all seasons cause I love to be everything for you. A little Grease 2 for ya. I've gone off on a strange tangent.  There are so many warm palettes. So so many. So I'm going to narrow my list down to two. First is the Colourpop California Love Palette. This was marketed as a summer palette, but it is not. If this doesn't scream fall to you, I don't know what will.

I also just had to include a Pat McGrath palette because they are just the best eyeshadow palettes in the world quite frankly. If you want to look like a bronzed goddess, the bronze ambition is the palette for you.

Mature Glitters

At Christmas and New Years Time we can go full on glitter, but in the fall a more subtle lid is a nice touch. My faves are the hourglass scattered lights in Smoke and Ray. I also have to give a mention to their holiday set. You get three beautiful scattered light shades for a decent price! I also must give a shout out to Stila Magnificent Metals in my fave shade Wanderlust.

Nude Blushes

I'm seeing a ton of beautiful nude blushes that give your cheeks a little something something, but it's a natural and bronzey looking flush that will go with any look. I love blush so much. My all time favorite is Buxom Wanderlust Blush in Seychelles. Not only is it the perfect neutral shade, but it lasts really long on the cheeks (it's a primer infused blush and that bit of primer infusion really does the job) and it also gives a beautiful sheen to the skin. Other great options are the Bare Minerals Bounce and Blur Blush in Blurred Buff, Hourglass Brilliant Nude and the Cover FX Monochramatic blush duo in warm honey.

I also must say - Hourglass holiday sets are the absolute best. They are limited edition and they sell out quickly, but I promise you won't be sorry. Although the price tag is a bit hefty, hourglass powders are so special and beautiful. You get a bronzer, blushes, highlight and finishing powders. I literally use mine every single day, I travel with it and it's truly a game changer. This year they also came out with a beautiful blush quad as well.

90s Lips

Have I mentioned I love the 90s? I'm so happy that so many brands like huda beauty, charlotte tilbury and melt cosmetics (to name a few) are ready throwing it back to that 90s dark nude, brown lip, vampy kinda vibe. Below are so of my fave 90s inspired lip shades.

Il Makiage X Carli Bybel

Libra Lipstick + Luna Lip Liner

Em Cosmetics Infinite Lip Cloud in Morning Mocha

Colourpop Lippie in Grunge

Glosses

I'm so happy the gloss trend isn't going away! I love me a good gloss

Ofta Lip Gloss - Rodeo Drive

Bite Beauty French Pressed Gloss in Dirty Chai

Persona Lip Gloss - Honey

Fenty Gloss Bombs - They also have an adorable holiday gift set. These colors though!

Pat McGrath Lust Gloss - Faux Real + Contour Liner

My Favorite Nude Lipsticks

Hello fellow nude lip lovers. I figured after my blog about Jaclyn Hill and Lipstickgate, I'd follow up with nude lipsticks that are actually amazing. My skin tone is pretty fair, so the majority of my picks are best suited for light skin tones (sorry!) in terms of shades, but I will be talking about my all time favorite formulas in general so hopefully you can find your perfect nude. I'd also highly recommend this video and Alissa Ashley's channel. She is a fantastic beauty guru and has excellent recommendations for medium to deep skin tones.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqzBCd93Qak

I'll mix in some affordable options because a couple of my favorites are insane. Let me know your favorites and if you try any of these, send nudes!! (pics of your fave nude lipsticks to clarify). If you're thinking they all look the same, you're not really wrong BUT also you don't really get it.

Nude Lipliner

Pat McGrath
Shades: Contour and Done Undone

I know these are insanely expensive, but they have changed my lip liner game in the sense that I used to not wear lip liner's and now I can't live without these.  They are creamy, long wearing, long lasting and these colors!! Between the two of them, they will really work with anything.

Nude Lipsticks

Charlotte Tilbury
Pillowtalk

I feel like this nude pink lipstick has become iconic and is my go to. Charlotte's matte revolution formula is fantastic because it's comfortable even on my dry ass chappy lips. You really can't go wrong with this perfect gem.

Charlotte Tilbury
Kim  KW

Although I'm not a huge Kardashian fan, I am a fan of this true nude lipstick in Charlotte's glorious satin finish. One of my all time favorite lipsticks ever.

Becca Ultimate Lipstick Love
Sugar

I love this cool light pinky beige for when I'm doing a more cool toned look. I also am obsessed with the formula, silky-satin lip color infused with the next generation of hyaluronic acid to keep my lips hydrated. Yes, I stole that from the Sephora description because they just said it so well.

Colourpop Luxe Lipstick
 Appy & Butter

What did we do without Colourpop? They make affordable products that are truly incredible and their luxe lipsticks are no exception. The creme lux are my personal favorite formula. Appy is described as a warm pinky beige. I also love Butter, a pale peachy nude. They have an amazing selection of colors and finishes so if you can't find your shade, it's not them - it's you.

 Colourpop Lippie Stix
 Grunge

Put on your favorite flannel and pair it with this matte mid-toned red brown. Between that description and the fact that it is actually named "Grunge" do I even need to say more? Although this isn't nude on me, it could definitely be a nude option on deeper skin tones.

Pat McGrath Matte Trance Lipstick
1995

I miss the 90s (in case you couldn't tell) and this warm light nude takes me back. Also, Pat McGrath is a goddess.

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick
Honeycomb

I love Bite Beauty's lip products, especially this beige nude dream.

Nude Lip Gloss

Fenty Gloss
Diamond Milk

This is a shimmering pearl and while not nude per se, it is just magical on top of a nude lipstick or liner. I love all three of Fenty's glosses and you can't go wrong with any or all of them, but this is the most special and unique if ya ask me.

 Bite Beauty French Press Lipgloss
 Flat White

Described as a pale pink, this gorgeous gloss is pigmented and smells like coffee! Win/win for a coffee lover like me.

Marc Jacobs High Shine Gloss
Sugar Sugar

Described as a champagne gold shimmer, this is truly the perfect nude lip gloss

Marc Jacobs Lip Gloss Stick
Mocha Choco- Lata

First of all, how genius is a lip gloss stick? Secondly, I love me a good pinky nude. This lovechild of a lipstick/lipgloss/lip balm gives me life.

Pat McGrath Lust Lip Gloss
Faux Real

Described as a deep beige with a pearlescent sheen. First of all, Pat McGrath can do no wrong and her lipsticks, lip liners and lip glosses are perfection. I especially love this color because on me it reminds me of a grungy 90s lip gloss (if there was such a thing) but it also works on deeper skin tones!! It's so beautiful.

 Ofra Cosmetics
Apricot Dream

Apricot dream is right! I am obsessed with this sheer shimmering peach. It's shiny and juicy without being sticky. Simply stunning! I love to pair it on top of Ofra's liquid lipstick in Manila (see below).

Lip Laquer

Lancome L'Absolu Lacquer
Nuit & Jouer

I had to give this it's own category because it's a unicorn of a product. It has the sheen and comfort of a lip gloss, but the staying power of a lipstain. While I love many of the shades, 202 Nuit & Jour is a gorgeous light pinky beige. I'm in love with this color and this formula!

Liquid Lipstick

Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint
Unbuttoned

Fenty makes my favorite liquid lipstick formula - one that my parched lips can tolerate. This peachy nude is comfortable, long lasting and lovely. It does transfer (which is probably why I can wear it since it's not tooooo matte), but I don't mind because it's awesome sauce.

Ofra  Cosmetics
Manila

Ofra also has a wonderful and comfortable liquid lipstick formula. Manila is the ultimate nude with a mousey formula that lasts long, but doesn't give me butthole lips. No one wants butthole lips.

What are your go to nudes?

What Jaclyn Hill Should Have Said and Done - From a Publicist

Contrary to popular belief, publicists (or at least good ones) do not lie for their clients. Do we try to "spin" stories to make them look as good as possible? Sure. We aim to prepare well thought out statements in collaboration with our clients to explain situations that need explaining. That said, I always encourage my clients to be honest, to take responsibility for their mistakes and then actually work to correct those mistakes.

If you are looking for an example of Good PR vs. Bad PR simply look at Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin. One of them took full responsibility for her actions, gave a sincere and thoughtful apology and is willing to accept the consequences for her actions. The other is living in denial, making excuses and most likely will go to jail. Which of these ladies is looking better? Which of these ladies will work again soon? If you answered Felicity Huffman...you win. There's no prize, but yay you.

Jaclyn Hill represents everything one should NOT do when it comes to PR. I don't know if she has the most incompetent PR team ever or her "PR Team" consists of her mom and sister as some have speculated. Either way,  anyone advising Jaclyn to ignore the fact that her lipsticks have hair, mold, shards of metal, etc. and hope it all blows over should be fired. Anyone who advised the CEO of a new brand to deactivate all social media and hide from the world for a month, should also be fired. Eek. This is horrible business. Additionally, Jaclyn should be addressing ALL of her customers and everyone who had a bad experience with her brand and not just those who have continued to support her in spite of many problematic launches.

Jaclyn's "come back" video was 19 minutes of contradictory rambles that explained...not so much. At one point she said she took this time away from social media to rebuild her brand. She had so many meetings, she fired a lot of people and hired a lot of people. Later, Jaclyn says she hasn't left her house due to embarrassment over her failed launch. So based on this, I'm going to assume she rebuilt her entire brand in a mere month from the comfort of her own home. Also, she refused to address any of the "rumors" surrounding her failed lipstick launch. Why address anything from the past when she has new products to sell?

I sent an email to Jaclyn Cosmetics with some suggestions. I did this because I was a long time supporter of Jaclyn's and wanted to offer constructive advice because I want her to turn this around. I did not get a response (nor did I expect to). They did not follow any of my advice (nor did I expect them to). Quite honestly, they probably didn't even read the dang thing. So now it's more like an open letter.

Good afternoon,

I am senior publicist at an agency in Los Angeles. We handle many high profile clients and specialize in crises management. As a long time supporter of Jaclyn's, I've watched everything closely and wanted to offer some unsolicited advice (but also on the house since usually I charge a good amount).

Quite honestly, this launch has been handled so incredibly poorly that I'm not sure the brand can come back from this. I do think Jaclyn can, but it will take time and really humbling herself.

1. First the lipsticks need to be recalled immediately. Jaclyn needs to get on camera and say she's incredibly sorry that it took so long to do this. This is her dream and it was hard to accept that her first launch failed on this level, but the health and safety of her loyal subscribers and customers should have been the number one priority and she's so sorry that was not the case. Moving forward, this will be the number one priority. In the meantime, no one should continue to use these lipsticks.

2. This has all caused Jaclyn to take a good and hard look in the mirror and realize that she has a lot to learn before starting her own business and also to see how much she has changed and become a person she no longer recognizes. Money and fame have taken over and she wants to go back to becoming a relatable girl who loves makeup, her subscribers and the community. She deeply apologizes for any false truths, inconsistencies and misinformation. She knows it will take time to earn people's trust back through both words and actions.

3. She should privately and publicly apologize to Marlena Stell. She should say she acted both unprofessionally and as a bad friend for stringing Makeup Geek along and causing them to lose a lot of money in their failed collaboration. She would like to work with Marlena to see how she can make this right.

4. She needs to really step back from Morphe and do everything she can to amend her relationship with other brands and start featuring other brands on her channel. She also needs to amend her relationships in the beauty community. She should personally reach out to people like Raw Beauty Kristi, That Girl Shae, Nicol Concilio, Patrick Star, Pretty Pastel please, etc and say she is so sorry that they had a bad experience with her products and that she respects their opinions. She should also make it a point to promote influencer collaborations and brands (NOT Morphe). She should look to promote and collaborate with smaller influencers as well.
5. I'd end her video by just saying she's so sorry that she hasn't been a better brand owner and a better person in many ways. This has been a huge learning experience, but she doesn't want to give up on a dream that she's worked long and hard for. She's looking at this as having to start over again to gain trust from her subscribers and the community, but she is up for the challenge.

Also, she should NOT be having her mother, ex husband or anyone making statements on her behalf. Additionally, Jaclyn Cosmetics needs to be very careful about the comments you all are liking. Some of the comments you've liked are absolutely unprofessional and mind boggling.

I mean this all as constructive criticism. I hope you will take some of my advice to heart. I'm also happy to speak with you about PR services should you wish to bring on a PR team.  I would highly encourage this even if it's not my agency. There are many wonderful PR agencies that could truly help.
So there you have it. I would certainly make sure she went over everything with her lawyers. I'm sure there are certain things that she is unable to discuss legally. Of course, I also always want my clients to say everything in their own voice so they feel comfortable and it is authentic. It is always a well thought out and collaborative effort to make sure that all bases are covered and that the client is able to stay loyal to their audience and to themselves, while honoring all contracts and agreements.
Peter Monn did make a good point when he said that people are still hanging on and staying subscribed to Jaclyn to see what happens. While I do not plan on continuing to support Jaclyn or her brand at this time, I honestly am quite curious to see what happens next.

Jaclyn Hill is In A Hairy Situation - I'm Mad

With all the horrific things going on in our world (and there are a ton of horrific things going on in our world), it seems silly to be focused on what is now being referred to as #lipstickgate. Still, as both a makeup artist/addict and as a publicist, my mind is absolutely boggled by what has happened and how Jaclyn Hill is handling it.

Who is Jaclyn Hill, you ask? (assuming you don't watch hours of Youtube beauty influencers like me). Although, let's be honest, Jaclyn pretty much only posts a video these days if she has something to sell. I discovered Jaclyn Hill while I was in makeup school. Everyday, we did a makeup look on one of our classmates and our teacher would critique it. No pressure or anything. I definitely relied heavily on Youtube tutorials for extra techniques and inspiration. Jaclyn is beautiful, vibrant and in her early days she really taught her subscribers how to apply makeup. So because of that, I've continued to support her in spite of all the red flags (and there have been many red flags).

Pretty much all of her collaborations with brands have been shady AF. First, there was her Becca eyeshadow palettes. When customers complained about poor quality, Jaclyn was very quick to take zero responsibility and throw Becca under the bus. She was only responsible for ONE shade in the palette. Becca used a different factory without her knowledge. The samples she tried were perfect. The eyeshadow palettes were recalled, Becca lost tons of money and Jaclyn went on buying Birkin bags.

Then came her first eyeshadow palette with Morphe. Morphe is Jaclyn's favorite brand to collaborate with because she makes a LOT of money with them. More money than with any other brand. So much money, that she's screwed over other brands so she could just collab with Morphe instead. Morphe doesn't have the best quality products. They also have pretty lousy customer service. I've pretty much liked 1% (this is Jaclyn's favorite percentage) of all the Morphe products that I've tried. Having said that, I did like her original palette with Morphe. I did not like that she upgraded the packaging shortly after hearing critiques so that everyone who rushed to grab the palette was left with the original and fairly shitty packaging. Still, it was overall her least problematic launch and the palette is really good.

Then came the Vault. The Vault, in a nutshell, was all of the amazing shades that didn't make it into her original palette. In other words, the leftovers (or a way for them to continue to capitalize on this collection). Jaclyn assured all of her subscribers that it was the same incredible formula as her original palette.

Spoiler alert: It was NOT

After receiving some negative reviews, Morphe recalled the palettes. In an alarmingly short amount of time, "new" palettes were made. Jaclyn let us all know the original palettes were "destroyed." She would later clarify that the palettes were not actually destroyed. Per usual, she was given "false information".  The new palettes were not better than the old palettes. Many people speculate that these palettes were not actually new at all. I bought a couple palettes from the Vault collection and let me tell you...they were terrible. I didn't even want to give them to friends and returning was such a hassle (have I mentioned Morphe's customer service sucks?) I threw them in the trash. As a certified makeup artist, I can make most eyeshadows work. There were patchy, did not blend, the shimmers had no pigment. Still, it wasn't Jaclyn's fault because it's never Jaclyn's fault. It was Morphe's fault. To this day, Jaclyn continues to use and recommend the vault palettes.

Note: This is a photo of Makeup Shayla. Her channel is awesome.

It's also important to note that Jaclyn has been caught in many lies. Her lies are fairly dumb (like she will say she's afraid of flying so she can't do a meet and greet that requires her to fly, but then talk will about the luxurious  vacation she is planning, which requires her to fly). So while she's not lying in the incredibly alarming and life altering way that say our President lies, she does lie. Still, it's easy to forgive her because she always comes off as really caring and genuine on camera. She's recently been through a divorce. She suffers from anxiety. There's always something going on in her personal life that she will bring up to make us feel sorry for her and forgive her. And many of us have. So she continued to live her best life and buy Birkin bags.

Jaclyn finally launched her own brand of cosmetics. I say "finally," because she's been talking about it and teasing it for YEARS. Literally, like five years. Say what you want about Jaclyn Hill, but her makeup always looks great and many of us had high hopes for brand. As a self proclaimed perfectionist, there was no way anything could go wrong with HER brand. The brand she's been working on for five years. Additionally, if something did happen to go wrong, this would be the first time she'd have no one else to blame but herself.

Jaclyn launched 20 nude lipsticks. I love nude lipsticks. I, along with many fans and influencers alike, rushed to get our hands on these rich, luxe, buttery lipsticks. They sold out incredibly quickly. One strange thing was that no influencers had received PR packages. Generally, influencers receive products in PR prior to a launch. This is so they can review the products and their subscribers will know whether or not they should purchase based on the trusted opinion of their favorite beauty guru. Not one influencer received PR prior to this launch. Jaclyn would go on to say it was a mistake in shipping, she was so upset, blah blah blah. In the words of one of my very favorite beauty guru's Bailey Sarian (who also talks about true crime while doing her makeup and is my spirit animal) this is very SUSPICH.

People seemed to like the lipsticks at first, but then one unfortunate soul named Veronica posted a picture of her lipstick, which has weird bumps and hairs. She tagged Jaclyn Hill, who basically told her that it was most likely Veronica's dry lips that caused this because it certainly was not her lipsticks. But then more people started finding horrific things in their lipsticks. Holes, moisture spots, glass/plastic, hairs in all shapes, colors and sizes! One of my fave beauty Youtubers Raw Beauty Kristi examined her lipsticks under a microscope and it was not pretty. Not pretty at all.

This picture is from Rawbeauty Kristi and the link to her amazing video is below.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWedI5Csjhw

WTF? Also, ahhhhhh

Jaclyn made a statement that the hairs (or fibers if you will, but really hairs) came from new white gloves that her lab used without her knowledge. They instantly switched back to latex gloves so this would never happen again. Trusted brand owners who are familiar with makeup labs such as Makeup Geek founder Marlena Stell and Emmy award winning makeup artist Kevin James Bennett, would later say that this is not possible, no lab would do this and even if they did, was some lab worker just running his hands all over the thousands of tubes of open lipsticks?

What Jaclyn Hill should have done is immediately recalled these lipsticks. She should have gone on camera and said she was horrified by this situation, that no one should use these lipsticks until they had solid answers and that her company would be issuing full refunds.

What Jaclyn actually did was continue to maintain that her lipsticks are 100% safe to use, in spite of the fact that there have been multiple reports of people having reactions, bumps on their lips, in extreme cases even cutting their lips from whatever plastic or glass is embedded in these little tubes of death. OK that is dramatic, but here is the thing: we ingest lipsticks. Pregnant people are using these. If there is mold or contamination, this could actually cause legitimate health risks.

Many people suspect these lipsticks are old/expired, which isn't such a stretch considering she's been working on this for years. She's had the lipsticks ready to go for years. She's teased these lipsticks on her channel for years and even worn them. Also, there's MOLD. Still, Jaclyn maintains they are safe. She's sticking by the glove story. You know someone else who stuck by a shady glove story? OJ Simpson.

In a statement given to news outlets (this has actually hit major news outlets) Jaclyn Hill maintains that less than 1% of the lipsticks have been compromised (remember I said she loves that statistic?) If Twitter is anything to go by, it's a lot more than 1%. It's more like 99%. People who haven't had any issues with these lipsticks are definitely the minority here. Jaclyn herself has yet to really publicly address this, she's only been making vague statements through her company website or on Twitter. Recently her company updated their website to say "Don't pout, we will be restocking soon." Phew. I would love to add more hairy and potentially contaminated lipsticks to my collection.

It seems that as s far as Jaclyn Hill is concerned, she sold out. She made her money. She doesn't really seem to care that people's health is at risk. My mind is boggled. I'm assuming she thinks this will be like all of her other failed launches. It will blow over, people will forgive her and continue to buy her products. If you take a look at her closet tour, this assumption is not so far off.

However, perhaps this time she has finally gone too far. Touting patchy eye shadows is one thing, but putting people's health at risk is another. Major influencers and long time supporters (including, but not limited to That Girl Shae, Nicol Concilio, Jen Luvs Reviews, Jackie Aina, Babs Beauty, Samantha March and many others)  have had enough. I am still curious as to who she will blame this time. She will definitely blame the lab. Perhaps she will blame a homeless dog who wandered into the lab and shed on all of her lipsticks because you can't be mad at a homeless dog. Maybe the people who broke into Jeffree Star's lab broke into her lab. They didn't steal anything, they just contaminated her lipsticks! From a PR standpoint, I grade her an F. From a makeup standpoint, I grade her an F. From a personal/human standpoint, I grade her an F. It's sad that someone millions of people looked up to and learned from, has turned out to be a scam artist. I believe that once she may have been a good person, but that money, greed and fame have taken over. She lies so much, she may even believe her own lies. I hate to ever bash a person or a brand, but this situation is way too hairy for me (pardon the pun).

PS If you are looking for some great lipsticks, I'd recommend Bite Beauty, Pat McGrath, Charlotte Tilbury, Becca and Colourpop luxe lipsticks (Colourpop is amazing and affordable). They are all creamy, buttery, hair/mold free and all have a great variety of nude shades! An influencer I love and trust named Alisa Ashley posted her favorite nude lipsticks to buy that are NOT Jaclyn Cosmetics. She has great recommendations for all skin tones!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqzBCd93Qak

Also, while I know I injected this blog with humor, the health risks are not funny. If you purchased these lipsticks, I'd strongly suggest NOT using them until there is solid evidence that they are safe.

Summer 2019 Makeup and Beauty Trends with Tips From Popular Beauty & Lifestyle Guru Adaleta Avdić!

Hi and welcome to another blog. With Memorial Day weekend coming up, it's finally time for pool parties, beach days, BBQ's and summer fun. Although I think LA is late getting the memo because it's been chilly and gloomy here. As a makeup artist/addict, I'm constantly watching YouTube videos and stalking the Instagram pages of my favorite artists.

I recently discovered beauty guru and social media maven, Adaleta Avdić, (known as @adaatude on Instagram so go follow her). I'm definitely going to be incorporating some of her tips and product recommendations because they are awesome.

Trend #1 - Glass Skin/Glowy Skin

It's all about the dew. From glowy moisturizers and primers (I'm obsessed with the Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream and Ole Henrikson's Banana Bright Primer) to wet looking highlights (Kevyn Aucoin's Glass Glow Face Highlighter is life) to dewy setting sprays. My two favorites are the Glow Recipe Watermelon Ultra Fine Mist and the Farsali Rose Gold 24 K Skin Mist.

Adaleta highly recommends the Pixi Beauty Hydrating Milky Mist, which she says is perfect for a quick hydration boost throughout the day. I can definitely attest to the fact that Pixi has amazing skin care and it's affordable!

She also loves to do a spritz of the  Kiehl's Cactus Flower & Tibetan Ginseng Hydrating Mist, which she says smells absolutely incredible. Also, this Kiehl's version comes in a smaller size (2.5 fl oz.) so it's perfect to carry on the go and for those summer travels. I must admit, I haven't tried the Kiehl's, but I've added it to my Sephora Loves List.

Trend #2 - Bright Colors and Neons!

From the Anastasia Riviera Palette, to Fenty Beauty's neon eyeliners, summer is the perfect time to add a fun pop of color, even just on your nails. If you don't want to go all out, try adding a bright color to your lower lash line or inner corner.

Trend #3 - Body Oils/Hydrated Skin

It seems like every brand is jumping on the body oil train and I'm totally on board. My personal favorites are Fenty Body Lava in Trophy Wife and Sol de Janeiro Glow Motions. I've also heard great things about Patrick Ta's Major Glow Body Oil. Rub some on your shoulders and Décolletage for that sexy glow.

If body oil isn't your jam, you can always stick with a great moisturizer. Adaleta loves the Lush Cosmetics Dream Cream. I'm obsessed with pretty much all things Lush, so I'll be running to grab this. You all know I swear by Sol de Janiero's Bum Bum cream. When rocking a bikini or shorts you definitely want soft, hydrated skin!

Trend #4 - Cream Products

I've been loving cream products. They look so natural and who wants to feel super powdery in the hot weather? Not this girl. I'm going to list a few of my absolute faves.

Milk Makeup Matte Bronzer
Nudestix Bloom All Over Dewy Color and/or Nudestix Matte Brush and Bronze
Huda Beauty Tantour Contour and Bronzer Cream
Supergoop Cream Shadow (*Note: This also has SPF for your eyelids. Brilliant)

Trend #5- Blush, Blush, Blush

I love blush and I really love that blush seems to be all the rage. I go all out taking it from the apples of my cheeks all the way up to my hairline and across the nose for that super sun kissed look.

You probably know by now that the Buxom Primer Infused Blushes are my ride or die. They are so pigmented, they last all day and they have this gorgeous sheen to them.

I'm also completely in love with the Natasha Denona Bloom Palette. This stunning quad comes with a cream blush, a cream highlight, a powder blush that is so shimmery it makes my heart sing and a powder highlight. Another great thing about this palette is you can use the cream brush on your lips, the shimmer blush on your eyes and create a beautiful glowy and monochromatic look very quickly and easily. One and done!

I've also been loving the Cover FX monochromatic matte and shimmer blush duos.

Trend #6 - Lip Stains, Lip Glosses and Lip Balms

I don't know about you, but I've been over liquid lipsticks for a while now. Especially in the warmer months, I want my lips to feel hydrated and either look juicy or like I just sucked on a delicious Popsicle.  Fenty Beauty seemed to be on the same page with their poutsicles, which are everything. They feel so nice on the lips, the colors are so fun and they fade into that Popsicle like stain. Blazing Orange is my favorite. A fiery orange lipstick just makes me feel some type of way. While I'm talking about Fenty Beauty, their gloss bombs are my favorite lip glosses ever.

I also love Pat McGrath lip glosses. Pat McGrath can really do wrong, but her lip glosses are so right. Bite Beauty, another one of my favorite brands for lip products, just came out with lip stains and they are also delightful.

When it comes to lip treatments and balms, I swear by Laneige. Their lip sleeping mask stays right by my bed and I put it on every night. The lip glowy balm lives in my purse.

Adaleta recommends The Butterstick Lip Treatment from Kiehl's. It has an SPF 30, color payoff, and a serious boost of hydration to the lips. The La Mer Lip Balm is another amazing alternative, with a luxurious silky feel (so you can kiss confidently, oooh la la!) That is a direct quote from her :) You can never go wrong with La Mer anything.

Trend #7 - Less is More

Whether you're lounging by the pool or running errands in the heat, you don't want to feel heavy or cakey. This is the time to let your natural beauty shine through (having a tan never hurts either).

I love to just slap on a tinted moisturizer, a little bronzer/blush, mascara and lip gloss.

My fave is the YSL All in One Glow, which has an SPF of 23, evens the complexion and gives a natural luminous finish.

Adaleta opts for the Boscia Skin Perfecting BB Cream Broad Spectrum, with an additional SPF 30.  It's a hydrating BB cream that keeps the skin looking fresh while lasting a really long time.

Remember that while it's great to use a foundation with SPF, it's still extremely important to apply sunscreen on your face and body!

When it comes to mascara, no one wants to be having racoon eyes.  Adaleta is loving the Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara, which is perfect for time by the pool, beach or lake this summer.

I am so thrilled that I got tips and product recommendations from Adaleta. I can't wait to check out all of the products she recommended. I've included more about her below because in addition to being a fantastic blogger and Influencer, she also has a really great story. I strongly suggest you check her out!

She was kind enough to provide direct links to the products she loves. I'm lazier, but you can find all of my recommendations at Sephora!
